About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Manager to join our team at Connect2Luton. As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all site works, including preparing sites prior to construction, planning projects, and ensuring they meet agreed specifications, budgets, and timescales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare sites for construction, including setting out and organizing facilities
  • Plan and control the day-to-day operation of the team and contracted staff to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Manage and direct supervisors and trade persons, advising on technical matters as required
  • Ensure all local arrangements are in place for the works to be carried out and materials are available
  • Manage health and safety for each project, identify training needs, and implement modern building techniques and practices
  • Plan projects to meet agreed specifications, budgets, and timescales, and oversee building work
  • Liaise with clients, professional staff, and the public, and meet with subcontractors
  • Make safety inspections, check quality and progress, and initiate remedial work where necessary
  • Authorise stores and purchase requests, and manage stock effectively
  • Undertake problem-solving, complete risk assessments, and monitor employee/team performance
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of building maintenance/building construction and working with Schedule of Rates
  • Able to manage, control, plan, and organise human and material resources to ensure outputs, standards, targets, and deadlines are met
  • Able to interpret written requests and construction drawings, and produce specifications, drawings, estimates, and technical reports
  • Able to communicate effectively and politely with a range of people, including contractors and customers
  • Demonstrable understanding of the building industry and awareness of commercial aspects
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and legislative requirements, including Health & Safety
  • A recognised building trade qualification, e.g. City/Guilds in a recognised building trade
  • Able to attend meetings, sites, and venues as required, and undertake work outside normal office hours
