Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Biofacility Operations Manager to join our collaborative and industrious aquatics team within our biomedical facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Aquatics Facilities Manager in overseeing the daily operations of various aquatics facilities, which include species such as Zebrafish, Medaka, and Xenopus.
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Aquatics Facilities Manager, ensuring continuity in management and operations.
  • Coordinate and supervise animal husbandry activities, managing a team of technicians to facilitate efficient workflow and uphold exceptional standards of animal care and welfare.

Staff Management:

  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of new personnel, adhering to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in both licensed and unlicensed scientific procedures, as well as daily maintenance of aquatics systems, providing support to technicians as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and documentation, promptly addressing any issues with the Aquatics Facilities Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in supervising or managing staff is essential.
  • Possession of IAT Level 3 or equivalent qualifications, along with Home Office Licence modules A - C, and a valid Personal Licence.
  • Extensive experience in aquatics facilities is crucial, complemented by strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computerized data management systems and prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Familiarity with relevant Home Office regulations and Health and Safety legislation is important, as well as knowledge in aquatics health monitoring, cryopreservation, and specialized breeding techniques.

Additional Information: Upon acceptance of an employment offer, the selected candidate will be required to complete a health assessment and undergo a security clearance process.
