Lead Java Engineer - Robert Walters

We are looking for several Lead Java Engineers to join our team. This role involves working on a consultancy basis, contributing to the development of advanced technology solutions.

As a Lead Java Engineer, you will play a vital role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering reliable technology products in a secure and scalable manner. Your expertise will be essential in executing critical technology solutions across various technical domains to support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements innovative software solutions, engaging in development and technical troubleshooting while employing creative approaches to solve complex problems.
  • Produces secure, high-quality production code and conducts thorough reviews and debugging of code developed by peers.
  • Identifies and automates solutions to recurring issues, enhancing the operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Facilitates evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical capabilities.
  • Promotes best practices within the Software Engineering community, fostering awareness and adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Contributes to a team culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Qualifications

  • Formal education or certification in software engineering principles along with substantial practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages.
  • Expertise in automation and continuous delivery methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a specific technical domain (e.g., cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile technologies).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the financial services sector and its IT infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with cloud-native technologies.

Essential Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Java (Spring Boot).
  • Experience with Microservices, APIs, and Containerization.
  • Advanced SQL skills with familiarity in modern databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and version control systems like BitBucket/GitHub.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban, using tools from the Atlassian Suite (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with SCIM is a plus.

*This position operates on a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of three days in the office and up to two days of remote work.*
