Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of an excellent student experience at the University of Glasgow.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the planning, organization, and delivery of teaching activities, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic objectives.

2. Support the development of teaching materials, ensuring content and methods meet determined learning objectives and promote student participation and learning outcome attainment.

3. Participate in the formative assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques, and provide effective, timely, and appropriate feedback to students.

4. Assist with the supervision of student projects, dissertations, and practical work, advising on skills, methods, and techniques to support the transfer of knowledge.

5. Engage in continuing professional development activities to enhance teaching and learning practices.

6. Contribute to the enhancement of the University's international profile, aligning with the University's Strategic Plan.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Qualifications/Knowledge

A1 Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) relevant to the teaching area or have expertise in a relevant field.

A2 Registered for and working towards the achievement of a PhD qualification in a relevant subject at the University of Glasgow.

A3 Successful completion of the latest Annual Progress Review.

A4 Understanding of the principles of teaching, learning, and assessment.

A5 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of the required subject.

Skills & Experience

Skills

C1 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

C2 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.

C3 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

C4 Ability to use IT and relevant software packages to support teaching and learning.

Experience

E1 Relevant administrative experience (e.g., Student support, course administration, etc.).

E2 Relevant experience of teaching.
