About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Modelling and Simulations Expert to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process systems engineering, modelling, and simulations approaches to support the development of medicines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy process systems engineering, modelling, and simulations approaches to support the development of medicines.
  • Pioneer and develop novel approaches, including mechanistic modelling, systems modelling, and multiscale modelling.
  • Translate mathematical models into computer models using software platforms or by developing custom solutions.
  • Use engineering, chemical, biological, or materials science knowledge to postulate mechanisms for physiochemical and biological processes and develop or modify existing mathematical models.
  • Package models into web applications to ensure accessibility and support the development of colleagues in engineering, chemistry, and formulation science.
  • Develop and maintain key modelling platforms and direct experimentation and analysis to develop models and assess their credibility.
  • Stay current with new modelling techniques through external publications and conferences and academic and pre-competitive collaborations.
  • Leverage external expertise and funding through alliances and academic collaborations to identify, develop, and internalize novel modelling approaches for process development.
  • Provide and coordinate training and real-time support to expand the use of modelling across the Development and Manufacturing environments.
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts in Pharmaceutical Quality by Design, regulatory, and Information Technology to integrate process modelling into process development routine ways of working.
Requirements
  • PhD in process systems engineering with an emphasis on development and implementation of process models and simulations.
  • Experience of working as a technical expert in process modelling within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate mathematical models into computer programs using software tools such as gPROMS, DynoChem, Ansys, or COMSOL.
