Job Description

Job Title: Transport Team Leader

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Transport Team Leader to join our team at Wincanton Logistics. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of drivers, clerical staff, and shunters to ensure the smooth execution of our transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the transportation team, including driver management, absence, safety concerns, and hour management.
  • Investigate and resolve disciplinary issues, as well as conduct accident investigations and address safety concerns.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and colleagues.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all team members, and identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Raise and investigate defects, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in transportation or logistics, with a proven track record of leadership and safety management.
  • Previous experience of high-volume transportation operations and/or planning, with knowledge of transportation management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
