About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Business Assurance to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our Business Assurance function, ensuring that our business operations are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Business Assurance strategy, aligned with our company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the File Review and Call Monitoring Teams, ensuring that objectives and delivery plans are met.
  • Define and coordinate file review and call monitoring approaches, providing full reports of areas audited, potential areas of exposure, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Forecast reviews and manage associated resources, responding to specific emerging areas of need.
  • Iteratively review the Business Assurance process, making recommendations for process improvement and driving implementation.
  • Review, share, and promote best practice, identifying and reporting on poor practice and sharing repeated issues with all staff.
  • Coach staff, as required, in conjunction with line managers.
  • Act as a point of liaison across all Retail pillars/entities regarding Business Assurance matters.
  • Manage assigned projects and contribute to other projects as required.
  • Contribute towards the Business Assurance Framework, providing risk-based assurance to Governance Committees on adherence to regulatory expectations and internal standards.
  • Review and respond to queries raised by the Business.
  • Review and support in relation to Near Misses.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on how to improve/mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and circulate reports/committee packs, capturing all key information and highlighting risks, priorities, recommendations, and presenting findings to senior management teams.
  • Work with other teams within the Business to ensure that remedial action is addressed and monitored, tracking identified actions and periodically assessing progress.
  • Provide updates on progress of remedial action plans to drive decision making and action.
  • Keep informed of all regulatory and legal changes impacting the role.
  • Ensure up-to-date records are maintained at all times on business systems.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent issues as they arise.
Requirements
  • Commercial awareness and focus on the application of regulation within the insurance broking industry.
  • Broad knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of insurance principles, products, and services.
  • Experience of operating in a compliance, monitoring, or audit environment.
