- Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
- Opening and closing the store, ensuring all decisions are made with the customer, colleague, and safety in mind
- Act as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager, providing day-to-day operational support
- Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events, fostering a welcoming atmosphere
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-presented store environment
- Prioritize the replenishment of products that matter to our customers
- Take immediate action on overcharges and prevent reoccurrences
- Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping experience
- Stay knowledgeable about the store, coordinating others to implement improvements
- Identify opportunities to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
- Understand and address obstacles to delivering excellent service
- Resolve colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalate as necessary
- Ensure the store is staffed appropriately, finding cover for shifts in response to short-term absences or sickness
- Act as a recognized Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security
- Monitor and action internal communications, keeping colleagues informed
- Coordinate colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, feeding back to the Store Manager on any issues
- Balance time across service and replenishment areas
- Support the Store Manager in managing absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and reporting absence triggers
- Build meaningful relationships with the Area Manager and People Partner, escalating issues and seeking advice when needed
Requirements:
- Able to model great customer service, meeting customer needs
- Confident in taking the lead when in charge of the store
- Flexible in thinking, making decisions efficiently, and handling change to ensure everything is right for customers and colleagues
