Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement a proactive facility strategy to ensure efficient operations
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs
  • Establish policies and standard operating procedures for all facility maintenance work
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and OSHA standards
  • Prepare facility reports to measure and improve performance
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and building systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems

Troubleshooting and Repair:

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine effective solutions
  • Repair or replace defective parts in various systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and fix issues

Facility Upkeep:

  • Ensure the building's interior and exterior are well-maintained

Management of Non-staff Resources:

  • Monitor budgets and approve expenses
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
  • Manage maintenance inventory, ordering parts and supplies as needed
  • Forecast and order necessary sub-contractors
  • Hire and manage subcontractors and vendors for specialized maintenance work
  • Manage janitorial contractors, waste disposal services, and other regular providers
  • Ensure landscaping maintenance and keep grounds clean and presentable

Requirements and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools, and maintenance software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and other documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform tasks and lift heavy objects
  • Good organizational skills

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities management is desired
  • A technical diploma or certification is a plus
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship in a relevant field preferred
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC certification, Electrical certification) are advantageous
  • Valid driver's license required
