Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Team at Torbay Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our statutory duties as Lead Local Flood Authority and capital programme projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and supervise urban drainage schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
  • Manage projects, interact with contractors, and deal with people of all ages and backgrounds in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
  • Assist in managing the team, prioritizing workload, and working on diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Persuade and negotiate with contractors to minimize disputes and maintain effective relationships.
Requirements:
  • Detailed knowledge of civil engineering, particularly in urban drainage.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering Method of Measurement and contract law.
  • Financial monitoring and budgetary control.
  • Extensive experience in civil engineering design, survey, and contract preparation.
  • Line management and team leader experience.
  • Proven track record of supervising contractors and administering contracts.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and Incorporated Engineer Status.
