About the RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Deputy Nursery Manager to support us in delivering an exceptional service to the local community. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our childcare practitioners, ensuring high-quality education and care for children from birth to 5 years.
You will be part of a team that provides a warm and welcoming environment within the Nursery, where young children and their families can feel valued and supported. Your role will involve providing support and guidance to parents and carers, enabling them to extend their own skills and boost their confidence and self-esteem.
You will be responsible for the display and maintenance of a safe, stimulating, and interactive learning environment in the Nursery, working within the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Ofsted Regulations. You will assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of an effective programme of age-appropriate activities, enabling young children to develop as individual learners.
You will also be responsible for the observation, assessment, monitoring, and record-keeping of children's learning and development, using a variety of methods. You will record these observations and produce individual profiles for each child in your care.
As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure good practice and provide full access to an effective programme of activities for children identified as requiring additional support. You will also be responsible for collecting Nursery fees and chasing payments and arrears as required.
You will work in partnership with other professionals involved with the children and their families, such as health visitors, teachers, and Sure Start workers. You will assist with the supervision and training of students and junior staff, and care for sick children and those suffering minor injury.
You will be responsible for ensuring the room and the nursery is cleaned at the end of each day, and follow the Associations Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedure in dealing with any child protection issues and concerns that may arise within the nursery setting.
Requirements- Level three childcare qualification NNEB, BTEC, NVQ3, or similar
- Evidence of success in a leadership position within a childcare setting
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Standards
- Detailed knowledge and clear understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate learning opportunities
- Excellent customer care skills
- Ability to complete and update children's personal development records
- Able to speak two or more local community languages
- Ability to work flexibly to ensure that the nursery operates effectively at all times
- Ability to travel between sites when required
- Ability to respect and communicate the YMCA's Christian ethos
The post holder must agree to authorise a full Criminal Records Bureau check. They must also meet the requirements of Ofsted.
