About the Role

Lighthouse Games is a pioneering AAA studio in the gaming industry, renowned for its exceptional talent and ambitious vision. As a Principal Environment Artist, you will be part of a collaborative environment that fosters creativity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualization and Craftsmanship: Collaborate with the Art Director and Game Designers to conceptualize and craft a cohesive and immersive game world that meets both creative and technical requirements.
  • Environmental Asset Development: Develop 3D models and textures for a diverse range of environmental assets, including buildings, terrain, vegetation, and props, to the highest level of craft.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Support and develop the level of craft for mid-level and Senior Environment Artists, providing guidance and mentorship to nurture their growth.
  • Visual Consistency and Quality Assurance: Uphold visual consistency and ensure adherence to established art styles and technical guidelines across game environments, maintaining an exceptional standard of quality in environment art assets.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with other departments, such as level design and lighting, to optimize the integration of environment assets into the game world, and maintain transparent communication within the team to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Technical Optimization and Innovation: Drive the development and implementation of innovative techniques and tools to enhance efficiency and quality in the environment art pipeline, collaborating closely with Technical Artists and the Engineering team to optimize environment assets for performance.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proven Track Record: Shipped several games as a Senior Environment Artist, with a strong understanding of shape, form, and composition.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in 3D industry-standard tools like Maya, 3DSMax, Blender, and surfacing tools such as Photoshop and Substance Painter.
  • Optimized Asset Production: Proven ability in producing optimized 3D assets for games, with a strong understanding of game design requirements.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Unreal Engine Experience: Experience with Unreal Engine, with a strong understanding of its capabilities and limitations.
  • Large-Scale Game Development: Experience with large open-world games of triple A quality, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved.
  • Hard Surface and Foliage Modeling: Expertise in hard surface and foliage asset modeling, with a strong understanding of the techniques and tools involved.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Experience mentoring other Artists, with a strong understanding of leadership and team management principles.
