About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at Limbs & Things. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for supporting the development of integrated hardware solutions for our training products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the software team to define requirements for hardware designs and integration into products.
  • Assist in feasibility studies to provide solutions for product development.
  • Design and develop electronic hardware and PCBA prototypes, and perform unit and integration testing.
  • Write and edit system firmware, and manage the building of PCBAs according to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications, software, hardware, and integrated systems.
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update, and add new features.
  • Seek specialist external help where necessary and manage subcontractors and suppliers associated with systems design and development.
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code.
  • Manage regulatory compliance testing with an external test house.
Requirements
  • Relevant degree-level qualification (EEE, IMEE, Mechatronics, or similar background) with at least 4 years of commercial experience working in electronic design.
  • Use of ECAD - Schematic Capture/Board Layout/Manufacturing Files Generation using an ECAD software (EAGLE, Altium, OrCad, etc.).
  • Full product life-cycle experience - Design for manufacture.
  • EMC certification experience.
  • Board level testing and rework, including SMT components.
  • Use of standard electronics tools – Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, Spectrum Analyser, DMM, etc.
  • Real-time embedded C – Bare Metal.
  • AUDIO ELECTRONICS.
  • MOTOR CONTROL.
  • POWER ELECTRONICS – DC-DC, Battery powered devices, High-Power and Low-Power designs.
  • Microcontroller Architecture - PIC32, ESP32, or Similar.
  • Communications protocols - I2C, SPI, I2S, etc.
  • Experience with managing version control – Git.
  • Delivery of design documentation - Use of standard software design tools e.g. UML, flow charts, hierarchy diagrams, etc.
  • Excellent communications skills; able to communicate with a mixed discipline team both within and external to the company.
  • Knowledge of quality management methodologies.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Python, RTOS.
  • Development in GUI software.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP.
  • Experience with RFID and NFC.
