Job Title: Teaching Assistant - SEMH

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Christchurch

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Alternative Provision school in Christchurch. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ASD, and various other needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pupils academically and emotionally, overcoming barriers to learning and supporting their development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt teaching materials and methods to meet unique needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of various learning styles and ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational journey of every child.
