Role Overview
The ISO 50001 Energy Manager plays a crucial role within the newly established Sustainability Delivery team at DS Smith. This position focuses on enhancing our ISO 50001 management systems into a unified group certification, driving energy efficiency across the organization.
As the selected candidate, you will be responsible for:
- Driving energy efficiency initiatives to meet corporate energy objectives.
- Analyzing energy consumption data and reporting progress to key stakeholders.
- Overseeing the execution of group energy projects.
The ISO 50001 Energy Manager will report to the Group Sustainability Delivery Director and collaborate closely with operational teams at various sites. Your role will involve developing solutions, processes, and tools to enhance the ISO 50001 management system and promote energy efficiency throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site teams to identify opportunities for energy reduction and collaborate with stakeholders to create site-specific plans.
- Foster a culture of energy ownership among employees through training in energy reduction techniques.
- Generate and distribute regular energy reports across the organization.
- Manage and execute group energy initiative projects.
- Own and develop the ISO 50001 management system to enhance energy efficiency.
- Formulate a strategy to unify all DS Smith locations under a single ISO 50001 management system.
- Conduct internal ISO 50001 audits across the organization.
- Serve as the primary contact for external ISO 50001 certification bodies and facilitate audits.
- Act as a leader and change agent to help the organization achieve its Net Zero goals and SBTi agenda, providing regular updates on progress.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive operational knowledge of ISO 50001 implementation across multiple locations.
- Strong understanding of energy optimization in energy-intensive manufacturing environments.
- Experience in team collaboration and a desire to take on leadership roles within project teams.
- Proven track record in leading ISO 50001 energy audits.
- Experience in executing energy reduction projects.
- Ability to analyze energy data effectively.
- Creative thinker capable of proposing innovative ideas to enhance energy efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and influence others.
- ISO 50001 lead auditor certification.
- Membership in the energy institute or relevant engineering background.
