This role demands strong analytical and communication abilities to articulate complex information to a varied audience. You will excel in collaborative settings, working effectively with a diverse array of stakeholders, including governmental bodies, consumer organizations, and industry partners. Your contributions will be vital in establishing processes necessary for monitoring and analyzing market data, managing extensive datasets, and issuing new information requests to external parties.
As a member of the Market Intelligence team within the Retail Directorate, you will work closely with the Consumer Intelligence team to build a robust evidence base for policy formulation. You will assist in the public dissemination of retail market competition and consumer intelligence metrics and provide internal updates and insights for senior management and colleagues throughout Ofgem.
Your key responsibilities will encompass producing written outputs such as reports and briefings, collaborating on unexpected data requests, and delivering analytical support for monitoring and policy initiatives. You will interact with suppliers and industry stakeholders to ensure prompt and precise data provision, sharing actionable insights with senior management, policy, and compliance teams. Additionally, you will liaise with other governmental departments and consumer organizations regarding the status of the retail energy market and developments in consumer protection.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing processes for the regular monitoring and analysis of market evidence, including managing large datasets and issuing information requests to third parties.
- Collaborate with team members to produce analyses that support the public release of retail market competition and consumer intelligence metrics.
- Contribute to the internal distribution of retail market and consumer intelligence updates for the benefit of senior management and colleagues across Ofgem.
- Prepare written outputs (both internal and external) such as reports and briefings for senior management.
- Work with colleagues on the fulfillment of specific unplanned requests related to the team's datasets.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other analytical and policy experts as needed to provide the necessary analytical input for monitoring and policy purposes.
- Engage with suppliers and industry stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate data provision.
- Share relevant information and insights with senior management, policy, and compliance teams in an efficient manner to maximize impact.
- Communicate with other governmental departments and consumer organizations regarding the retail energy market and developments in consumer protection.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex concepts and work with uncertainty to provide clear and timely information to senior colleagues.
- Research capabilities to conduct investigations as needed for policy or other ad-hoc projects.
- Experience in fostering effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting constructive and transparent engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey issues to non-expert audiences and stakeholders at various levels.
- Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work accurately with large datasets and create informative visual representations of analyses.
