About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Protection Officer to lead our data protection and information governance efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the Council's compliance with data protection regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular data protection impact assessments and audits to identify risks and ensure data processing activities comply with legal requirements.
  • Design and deliver training programs to raise awareness of data protection practices among employees and foster a culture of privacy within the Council.
  • Lead the response to data breaches or incidents, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate risks and notify relevant authorities within the required timelines.
  • Provide expert advice to senior management, employees, and stakeholders on data protection issues, ensuring that new projects and initiatives are designed with privacy in mind.
  • Oversee and manage data subject access requests to ensure timely and compliant responses to individuals exercising their data rights.
