About the Role

We are seeking a talented Rust Software Engineer to join our Ubuntu Foundations Team at Canonical. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering the best possible Rust runtime, developer experience, and supporting tooling in Ubuntu.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our distributed team to select, integrate, and package best-of-breed tooling with Ubuntu to improve developer and operator experience with Rust.
  • Write high-quality code to create new features and debug issues, producing high-quality code to fix them.
  • Review code produced by other engineers and discuss ideas to find good solutions.
  • Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks a year for internal and external events.
Requirements
  • You love technology and working with brilliant people.
  • You are passionate, curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
  • You are a long-time Linux user.
  • You have experience or are interested in learning how to package software for Debian and Ubuntu.
  • You have relevant Rust experience, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux.
  • You have a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar degree.
