Position Overview:

Carbon60 is seeking a skilled CNC Miller Setter to support our esteemed Defence clients in the production of high-precision components, adhering to stringent tolerances.

This position entails the proficient operation, setup, and management of CNC milling machines, alongside executing basic tasks on additional machine shop apparatus such as pillar drills and manual mills.


Working Schedule:
Monday to Thursday, 9 hours daily (Fridays are non-working days)

Compensation:
Approximately £15 to £17 per hour (dependent on experience, with an annual bonus based on company performance)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and manage CNC milling machines (Bridgeport/Heidenheim control)
  • Interpret geometric drawings accurately
  • Exhibit strong communication skills
  • Utilize measuring instruments effectively
  • Ensure safe operations by following established safety protocols and regulations
  • Document actions by maintaining production and quality logs
  • Control tolerances specified in technical drawings
  • Operate other machine shop equipment for basic tasks, including pillar drills and manual mills
  • Set CNC mills for various tasks and operations (Bridgeport/Heidenheim control)
  • Manage tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; perform calculations as needed, including basic mathematics
  • Produce initial components at the start of production runs

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in operating CNC milling machines (Bridgeport/Heidenheim)
  • Familiarity with other machine shop equipment
  • Ability to read technical drawings and utilize measuring instruments
  • Experience with CMM machinery is advantageous but not mandatory
