Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the Biobank and Clinical Trials Laboratory, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Preparing and submitting all necessary reports to internal and external stakeholders, including compliance with NHS Research Ethics requirements.
  • Providing regular updates and presentations on the Biobank and laboratory activities to various committees and meetings.
  • Identifying potential risks that could affect project goals and overall performance, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Leading and managing the Biobank and laboratory staff, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
  • Serving as the primary contact for all operational matters related to the Biobank and laboratory.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • In-depth knowledge of HTA legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, including HSE and COSHH.
  • Strong technical expertise and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in GCP/GLP or similar regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to manage and support teams effectively.
  • Experience working in a Biobank or laboratory setting.

Desirable:

  • Experience with gene therapy trials.
  • Familiarity with external regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in analyzing diverse samples for research collaborations.
