Role Overview
Assystem, a leading international company, is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead the strategic planning, engineering capability development, and technical delivery of projects across our Decommissioning and Fuels business lines.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a global top 3 independent nuclear engineering organisation, active across the full decommissioning lifecycle. You will be responsible for leading a diverse, collaborative, and high-performing engineering team, providing oversight for complex, multi-disciplinary projects, and acting as the go-to person for any engineering issues raised by project teams or clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth, improve engineering capabilities, and enhance technical delivery.
- Engineering Excellence: Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of experienced engineers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure their success.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Technical Directors, Business Managers, Key Account Management, and Resource Management, to ensure seamless project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Customer Focus: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and expectations, and delivering solutions that meet their requirements.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, developing and presenting proposals to secure new contracts and projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance engineering capabilities, processes, and systems.
Requirements
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading complex engineering projects, with a strong track record of delivering results.
- Nuclear Decommissioning Expertise: In-depth knowledge of nuclear decommissioning processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Engineering Management: Proven experience in managing engineering teams, with a strong understanding of engineering principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Tech-Savvy: Excellent IT skills, with experience in using project management tools, software, and systems.
- Contract Management: Expertise in managing contracts, including NEC3/NEC4 contracts, and current legislative regulations.
- Quality Compliance: Strong understanding of quality management systems, with experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Educational Excellence: Engineering degree qualified, preferably Chartered.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of work, the successful candidate must be a UK national or in MoD-approved cases, a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
