Practice Nurse

Whittington Moor Surgery, a thriving medical practice, is seeking a skilled Practice Nurse to join our team. This full-time position has become available due to upcoming maternity leave and planned expansion of our Nursing Team. Main Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality nursing care to our patients
- Promote a collaborative environment among team members to provide optimal care delivery
- Offer health education and promotion to patients
- Promote practice philosophy, strategy, and policy
- Conduct investigations and perform tests as needed
- Administer Near Patient Testing (INR's) using INR Star, including home visits
- Perform venepuncture and blood pressure monitoring
- Test urine samples, interpret results, and take relevant action
- Provide ear syringing and wound care services
- Administer routine vaccinations, including childhood immunizations and monitoring
- Offer travel health services
- Provide women's health services, including pre-conceptual advice, sexual health, and menopause support
- Perform cervical smears and discuss results
- Discuss contraception options and monitor patients on contraception
- Offer health promotion interventions and lifestyle advice, including smoking cessation, weight reduction, and safe alcohol levels
- Identify patients at risk of cardiovascular events and provide lifestyle advice
- Initiate other investigations, blood tests, and electrocardiograms as needed
- Be accountable for own professional actions
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Advise and recommend treatment
- Initiate action within broad clinical policies
- Refer to other disciplines when appropriate
- Work competently and confidently within clinical capabilities
- Keep up-to-date with anaphylaxis and mandatory training
- Maintain continuing professional education and development
- Participate in staff development reviews
- Support the training of junior nursing staff
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals on a regular basis
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
- Keep accurate and timely computer records
- Stock take and order vaccines and consumables
- Essential:
- Adult Nursing Qualification
- NMC adult nursing registration
- 3 years clinical experience
- Car driver
- Some Primary Care Nursing experience
- Understanding of the role of a Practice Nurse
- Experience in implementing protocols and clinical guidelines
- Good time management skills
- Clinical skills in cervical cytology, immunization, and vaccination
- Women's health experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of PGD and PSDs and their associated policy
- Desirable:
- Chronic disease management experience
- Ear care experience
- Awareness of local and national health policy
- Independent prescribing qualification or interest in working towards
- Knowledge of clinical governance in Primary Care
