Job Title: Applied Coastal Ocean Modeller and Model Product Specialist

MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention is seeking a highly skilled Applied Coastal Ocean Modeller and Model Product Specialist to join our Marine Data Products Team at the National Oceanography Centre in Liverpool.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced coastal ocean modeller to work on developing, testing, and applying a wide range of ocean models to meet the diverse range of commercial requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with other organisations, such as the Met Office, to ensure that we have the appropriate data available to handle a wide range of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responding to commercial and academic requests for coastal modelling work, primarily focusing on tides and storm surges.
  • Working with models to meet a variety of client requirements, such as tide modelling, storm surge modelling, particle tracking, and oil/chemical spill modelling across a wide range of industry sectors.
  • Developing new regional models for areas of the world where there is a commercial demand.
  • Developing software tools to make the setting up of models a more efficient process.
