Job Purpose

To provide electronic engineering support to the manufacturing and test departments, and support the Design Engineering team with the implementation of new products, writing Test Specifications and Test Reports. This role is estimated to last 6 to 12 months to support an ongoing project but shall be reviewed throughout the term.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide electronic systems engineering knowledge and skills to engineering projects.
  2. Produce and check technical documentation including specifications, electronic design information, test plans & specifications, technical reports.
  3. Support investigations into failures of electronic systems & components, determine root cause and present findings.
  4. Specify test equipment and specifications to undertake measurements or monitoring of electrical & electronic systems and equipment whilst in operation.
  5. Perform any other duties within capabilities, training, or experience.
Requirements
  1. Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering.
  2. Experience working in an electronic test facility, ideally with sub-assembly build knowledge.
  3. Practical experience with Railway / Rolling Stock electronics development.
  4. Experience writing test specifications and reports.
Desirable Skills
  1. Experience working in an electronic design and development environment.
  2. Experience in the use of Electronic CAD systems e.g. Altium PCB Designer & AutoCAD.
  3. Able to work with limited supervision, prioritise work and make effective decisions.
  4. Good ability and knowledge in using commonly used office applications and tools, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
Quality, Health & Safety
  1. Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and other policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure that investigations and reports on failed / defective components are carried out in line with policies & procedures in a timely manner.
