Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to lead our clinical service in Surgery and Critical Care at Southend Hospital. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and effective service to our patients, working closely with other clinical pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to wards, discharge, and outpatient services
  • Attend clinical ward rounds, meetings, and provide specialist pharmaceutical information to medical, nursing, and other staff
  • Record clinical interventions and activities, and promote the safe and appropriate use of drugs
  • Counsel and advise patients on the use of medicines, and participate in the emergency on-call pharmacist rota
  • Support the Trust Medication Safety Officer and Pharmacy Risk Governance Team with medicines optimisation and governance
  • Monitor the safe and secure storage of medication, and implement local and national guidelines
  • Supervise trainee pharmacists, undergraduate students, and ward-based technicians
