About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Technician to join our Wastewater Treatment Team at Southern Water. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our wastewater treatment works, sludge treatment centres, and pumping stations.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fix these or escalate, planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis, installing new plant and equipment as required.
- Coach, train, and develop staff under their supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
- Manage projects internally; and update the necessary company systems and databases as required accurately and promptly.
- Carry out inspection and tests on electrical equipment following company procedures.
- Gain quotations for parts, equipment or from contractors for work to be carried out, and provide self-quotations for work to be carried out, so assessment can be made against contractor prices.
- Identify possible future risks and recommend changes in the course of their day-to-day work and to raise these for resolution as required.
- Keep up to date with new technology and approaches to ensure you can work with existing plant/equipment and are able to identify opportunities to utilise new methods/approaches in your work.
Requirements
- A degree, apprentice or NVQ in mechanical engineering, with certificates showing your qualifications.
- A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalating if required.
- An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External contractors.
- Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
- Understanding of mechanical or electrical drawings.
