The Role

Our business has invested heavily in technology upgrades over the last two years, with a long-term strategic plan to maintain the pace of change. The Project Manager will be responsible for the management and coordination of the Site's Project management Function, concentrating on strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting the tone for our Automation and Digitalisation agenda, to improve safety, efficiency, and agility in what is a truly exciting time in our business's evolution.
  • Helping establish and implement the Site Vision and Strategy, supporting the Division's Automation and Digitalisation Strategy.
  • Working closely with all departments across the business (Safety, Production, Engineering, Process Improvement, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance) to ensure the business has a coordinated approach to investment.

Site Vision & Strategy

  • Helping develop the 5-year site Operations Vision to deliver sustainable year-on-year cost/yield improvements.
  • Developing and implementing the site Operations Strategy, including the Capital investment plan to deliver the Site Operations Vision.
  • Through Operational Excellence (using the Milliken Performance System, MPS), ensuring development, optimization, and execution of processes and initiating methods such as Lean Manufacturing and Project Management as a basis for efficient and effective development, innovation, and optimization of products and processes.
  • Monitoring KPIs and the progress of the annual plan, budget, and projects and developing reports/presenting progress to the Beech Hill and the Global team.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • To ensure site conformance to the Company Safety Policy and HSE legislation.
  • To define and promote safe working practices across the site.
  • To own site HSE activity in your area and ensure compliance to Milliken HSE procedures, e.g., by creating a Safety-First culture, to minimize HSE incidents during the execution of plant activities.
  • To be a waste Champion for the site.

Supply Chain

  • Understanding the S&OP process and being able to join the dots between Demand and Supply, and any implications on capacity and capital equipment.

Production/Quality

  • Working with the Plant to consistently manufacture high-quality products.
  • To constantly review existing processes and manufacturing capacities to achieve highest quality at an optimal cost, ensuring consistency with the Milliken quality standards.
  • To proactively work towards world-class manufacturing standards.
  • To actively contribute to the development process of new products/product re-engineering and ensure their smooth and timely implementation.
  • To proactively review production capacity to understand our ability to achieve the plan/Sales Forecast.

Engineering & Maintenance

Identifying and instigating the required replacement or expansion of machinery and formulating investment proposals for further approval by the Senior Vice President Global Manufacturing.

Financial

  • With the Finance department, producing the annual Capital budget; and updating on a period-by-period basis.
  • To achieve targets as defined in annual budget projection.
  • To assess the success of implemented projects in line with Capex submission expectations.
  • To help translate current and future business requirements into Capital Expenditure Proposals and local investment plans for further approval by the Senior Vice President of Manufacturing.

People / Team Management

  • To drive open and efficient channels of communication within the business.
  • To help maximize operational efficiencies through effective employee training & development activities.
  • To maintain high standards of employee relations and team working.
  • To maintain and develop a 'family' culture in line with the Milliken values.
  • To proactively identify the future growth needs of the business and help ensure the correct people and skills are in place to facilitate this.

Commercial

  • Product Management - Assisting the European Commercial Lead in developing and implementing the Product/Reuse Strategies for Milliken. Directly liaising with the business and removing obstacles to Sales.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a process engineer/project engineer as part of a team.
  • Energetic, with aspirations to develop a career in project management and work autonomously.
  • Hands-on, mechanical background, and willing to show the team how.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate with the wider business and manage through influence.
  • Ability to manage project budgets up to £2M.
  • Naturally curious with a desire to try new approaches.
  • Driving license.
