About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organized Food Service Assistant to join our team in a school lunchtime environment. As a key member of our catering team, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving meals to children and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Cook Supervisor and Assistant Cook in food preparation and service.
  • Support the team in maintaining high kitchen and food hygiene standards.
  • Handle food storage and preparation using commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Set out the dining area and clear away after meals.
  • Use knowledge of food hygiene and allergens to prevent cross-contamination.
Requirements
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification (or willingness to work towards this).
  • Ability to grasp and apply Health and Safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of food allergens and cross-contamination principles.
  • Friendly manner and willingness to learn and work hard.
  • Ability to use initiative to solve routine issues and maintain safe working practices.
Working Arrangements
  • Part-time, permanent role (10 hours per week) usually between 11:30am and 1:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Designated sites in Barking, Dagenham, and Ilford.
