Customer Support Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will have the chance to assist the designated Sales organization (division and market) and clients throughout the proposal process. Daily, you will act as a vital technical resource in your assigned area. You will demonstrate your expertise by preparing technical specifications of the products and technology, assessing costs, and compiling final documentation. The work model for this role is office-based. This position contributes to the Low Voltage Motors Division within the Motion Business in the UK. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Developing competitive bids and quotations, considering the best available product mix and relevant technical and commercial factors for each unique situation.
• Ensuring tenders are thoroughly documented promptly and with the appropriate level of detail, including comprehensive and accurate costs.
• Overseeing the preparation of all technical (e.g., defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (e.g., total price sheet, cash flow analysis), and if necessary, project management (e.g., quantifying hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
• Ensuring that inputs for editing activities are provided punctually and in accordance with established quality procedures. Managing external services to assist in bid preparation such as translations and governmental approvals.
• Collecting and archiving documentation and preparing reports regarding the offer while recording assumptions and decisions made during the development process.
• Identifying potential risks in the bids, quotations, and estimates, as well as in any related contract agreements across customers/channels. Providing information and/or participating in the Risk Review process in line with ABB policy.
• Responsible for gathering and compiling all information necessary to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements.
• Establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships to comprehend customer needs.
• Offering any necessary technical support to Sales Managers during technical discussions with customers.
• Identifying potential suppliers for equipment and materials required in the project and technically evaluating vendor offers to ensure alignment with specifications.

Qualifications for the role
  • Proficiency in communicating with various stakeholders at different levels
  • Familiarity with rotating/electromechanical equipment is desirable and would be an advantage.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification - HNC/HND or ONC/OND is preferred
