We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our engineering team as a Trainee Mechanical Technician. This is an excellent opportunity to start your engineering career and be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of engineering and maintenance operations within Biffa.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the engineering team in maintaining and repairing plant and machinery, ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. This will involve working closely with the engineering supervisor to identify and resolve operational engineering needs, reducing downtime and ensuring health and safety requirements are always considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of plant and machinery
  • Carry out problem-solving activities to identify faults and rectify them
  • Work in a team to carry out maintenance, both preventative and breakdown, on all equipment on the site
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis activities to identify the cause of failures and actions to prevent future failures
  • Proactively identify potential faults and improvement opportunities on the plant and equipment
  • Maintain the workplace, tools, and engineering facilities to prevent hazards and risks

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a strong mechanical maintenance background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize work. You should also be computer literate and have a keen eye for detail.
