Position Overview

We are looking for dedicated Child Welfare Specialists and Senior Family Support Workers to contribute to our exemplary Children's Safeguarding Team. In this role, you will collaborate with top practitioners and leaders in the field, ensuring the best outcomes for children and families.

About Us

Our safeguarding teams are committed to assisting children and families throughout their engagement with children's services. Social workers handle a diverse, manageable caseload that includes child and family assessments, child in need cases, child protection, and conducting S.47 investigations and legal proceedings.

Our professionals have been instrumental in our transformation to an Ofsted GOOD children's services provider, recognized for our OUTSTANDING leadership. This success has led to us receiving the national LGC Children's Services Award.

At Wakefield, we are fostering an environment conducive to effective social work. Significant investments have been made in our children's services, enhancing staffing and resources, which positively influences our performance, quality of practice, and organizational culture.

We seek passionate and ambitious individuals to join our children's social work teams. Your contributions will help us maintain the highest standards and positively impact the lives of children and families in our district.

The Role

Working with children and families can be both challenging and rewarding. The responsibility of making decisions that can significantly affect lives is profound. You will have access to excellent management support throughout your role.

Our strong multi-agency partnerships have been recognized as a key strength by Ofsted Inspectors.

Support and Development

Our management team, rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, is approachable and supportive. Regular supervision is provided, and we actively seek input from our staff.

We are committed to supporting your practice and decision-making, ensuring you never feel isolated. Our culture of high support and high challenge equips our workforce with relevant training and learning opportunities, fostering an environment where they can learn from peers and receive constructive feedback.

We strive to maintain manageable caseloads, typically below 20, to ensure our staff can perform at their best without feeling overwhelmed.

Our teams are kept small to facilitate optimal performance and genuine support among colleagues, reinforcing our commitment to a collaborative culture at Wakefield.

Wakefield is proud to embrace a learning culture, recognized by Ofsted inspectors as an authority that excels in this area. Our in-house Learning Academy offers innovative learning solutions to support your professional development, with a dedicated website providing access to a wealth of resources and information.

Expectations

You will play a vital role in achieving positive outcomes for children and young people in the Wakefield District. You will work within a small, well-supported team led by an engaging management team dedicated to making a difference for families.
