We are working in partnership with a leading precision engineering business to recruit a skilled CNC Turner to join their team in Sheffield.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating machine tools to manufacture high-precision components from exotic alloys and specialist materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate machine tools in accordance with work instructions and safe operating practices.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to a high standard, demonstrating understanding of surface finish requirements, geometric and dimensional tolerances.
  • Create, download, edit, archive, read, and interpret CNC programs.
  • Set components and machines, considering best production routes and potential negative impacts on quality requirements.
  • Apply appropriate tooling and cutting methods, taking into account the stability of the component setup and its composition.
  • Select and accurately use inspection equipment to measure components throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Communicate potential process improvement opportunities to the direct supervisor for approval and capture.
  • Complete accurate records, including labor bookings and setup sheets.
  • Demonstrate engagement with other team members.
  • Maintain machinery and work areas in accordance with daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Perform other reasonable requests made by the management team or direct supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Quality, Health, Safety, and the Environment.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and lead by example to ensure company goals are achieved and exceeded.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience working within precision machining.
  • High level of attention to detail with ability to follow quality standards.
  • Must have experience with Fanuc or Heidenhain control.
  • Experience with Manual I-Guide.
