A BSc in Clinical Physiology or an equivalent qualification, along with registration and ILS / ALS certification, is required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of MSc Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent (BSc in Clinical Physiology or HTEC MPPM with SCST Parts I and II)
  • Relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent - Certified Echocardiographer, holding current British Society of Echocardiography accreditation
  • Registered with RCCP
  • ILS certification

Desirable

  • ALS certification
  • Training or Leadership Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in autonomous scanning and reporting of Echocardiograms post qualification
  • Ability to apply specialist and technical knowledge of cardiac ultrasound in accordance with evidence-based practices
  • Proficient in utilizing a variety of cardiac ultrasound machines and reporting systems

Desirable

  • Capability to function as an independent practitioner within echocardiography

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Competence in performing a wide range of cardiological techniques utilized within the department
  • Ability to employ extensive, thorough, and up-to-date specialist postgraduate level knowledge across the full spectrum of cardiac physiology investigations, including advanced techniques such as Stress echocardiography and Tissue Doppler

Desirable

  • Highly specialized in a comprehensive range of echocardiography procedures, including stress echocardiography, contrast, or TOE
  • Proficiency in Welsh
