Position Overview:

The role of a Residential Building Surveyor involves contributing to the execution of comprehensive building surveying services across the existing managed residential portfolio. This position aims to enhance service delivery and profitability for the organization.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled surveyor to be part of our growing surveying team within the in-house surveying division. The responsibilities encompass the management of significant remedial projects as well as routine maintenance tasks and professional building surveying services within a specified region of the UK.

Our clientele primarily consists of Residential Property Managers who specialize in the oversight of various types of purpose-built residential developments throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project management for major initiatives, including remediation tasks.
  • Act as Project Manager or Contract Administrator on maintenance and refurbishment projects.
  • Develop Long-Term Maintenance Plans for sinking fund allocations.
  • Conduct building insurance reinstatement cost assessments.
  • Perform condition surveys and diagnose defects.
  • Participate in client meetings as required.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients.
  • Generate fee income as part of the broader team.
  • Ensure client reports are prepared to meet specified standards and delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with all internal departments.
  • Collaborate with other associated professionals.

Qualifications and Skills:

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • BSc in Building Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in social housing is preferred, along with familiarity in stock condition surveys and PPM surveys.
  • Proficiency in specification, tender preparation, and contract administration for repair and maintenance projects using JCT MW 2016.
  • Experience in preparing planned maintenance schedules and conducting building defect diagnosis.
  • Ability to prepare insurance reinstatement cost assessments.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and the implications of CDM Regulations.
  • Awareness of current developments and a solid understanding of best practices in surveying.
  • A valid clean driving license and willingness to travel.
  • Capability to work independently while maintaining performance with minimal supervision.
  • Strong literacy and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
