Prison Officer Role

As a Prison Officer with Serco, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners, staff, and visitors in our prisons. You will be at the forefront of reducing reoffending rates amongst prisoners and contributing to a safer and more rehabilitative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
  • Oversee work and education programmes, encouraging prisoners to participate and develop valuable skills.
  • Operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, prison cell searching, security, and administrative processes.
  • Manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm, providing support and guidance to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
