Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Principal Flood Risk Modeller to enhance our Flooding and Water Management Team.
Flexible Work Arrangement: This position offers flexibility, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, with options for adjusted start and finish times.
Role Responsibilities: As a member of the Water Environment Department, you will advocate for the sustainable management of water resources. Your efforts will contribute to safeguarding the water environment and enhancing resilience against flood risks and climate change.
You will engage in a diverse range of flood risk assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and flood risk management initiatives across the UK, catering to both public and private sector infrastructure and development projects.
Technical Leadership: In your role as a Principal Flood Risk Modeller, you will provide technical guidance to the modelling team, ensuring the quality of flood risk modelling outputs. Your expertise in flood risk assessment and management will be pivotal in shaping modelling approaches and decision-making regarding proposed flood risk mitigation strategies.
Project Management: Depending on your experience, you may lead projects or collaborate closely with project managers to coordinate resources, manage contracts, engage with clients, and oversee quality, program, and budget tracking.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess significant experience in hydraulic modelling applicable to various projects. You should demonstrate a proven ability to lead and manage projects effectively, adhering to deliverables, key milestones, and quality assurance protocols.
Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessment, Natural Flood Management, and Sustainable Drainage techniques is advantageous. A Master's or Doctorate degree in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, water resources, or a related environmental science field is required.
