Position Overview:

Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to enhance our Engineering Function. This pivotal role involves overseeing the allocation and management of personnel resources for development and support initiatives within the engineering sector. Collaborating closely with fellow Senior Engineering Managers (SEMs) and under the direction of the Head of Engineering, you will assemble a skilled and experienced team to fulfill the measurable demands of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective risk management and provide technical guidance to the Director of Engineering Development to meet project requirements.
  • Facilitate internal and external support for bids, operations, and other customer needs as necessary.
  • Achieve an On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery as outlined by the VP Engineering while fostering relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Guarantee that all technical solutions align with the defined scope of work and specifications, ensuring safety, reliability, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Managing engineering bid estimates, including Non-Recurring Costs (NRC) and schedules.
  • Identifying and addressing technical risks and opportunities.
  • Overseeing the specialist Engineering Team and their project load to deliver required bids and projects.
  • Promoting design commonality and reusability across engineering solutions.
  • Ensuring a uniform design methodology throughout the project portfolio.

Collaboration and Leadership:

In this role, you will work alongside other Senior Engineering Managers from various disciplines, Heads of Departments, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Chief Technology Officer to formulate strategic plans for business expansion based on both immediate and long-term objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in engineering or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
  • Professional certification (CEng) is advantageous.
  • At least 10 years of experience in design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in managing Project Managers and engineers in a leadership capacity.
  • Familiarity with the Defence sector and Major Prime Contractors.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to enhance management effectiveness.
  • Proficient in time management, delegation, negotiation, and decision-making.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an SC Security Clearance, with the potential for a DV security clearance.
