The organization is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead to oversee all engineering design functions and manage a dedicated team of contract and standards engineers.
At the heart of our operations is the commitment to delivering exceptional engineering solutions for our clients, making this role crucial for achieving both immediate and future business objectives.
Role Objectives:
As the Mechanical Engineering Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that machines are designed and engineered to provide effective solutions and functionalities for our clients.
- Utilizing a standard range of components and assemblies in the design process.
- Meeting departmental milestones through efficient team management and continuous improvement of standard parts.
Customer Orientation: Your focus will be on engineering solutions that not only meet but exceed customer expectations.
Order Fulfillment: You will streamline the order fulfillment process, ensuring adherence to standards and timely achievement of project milestones.
Standardization: Defining and realigning standards across all products and components will be a key part of your role.
Compliance: You will ensure that all products meet regulatory compliance requirements.
Knowledge Hub: Establishing the engineering department as the central knowledge hub for all products and engineered components will be essential. You will manage systems to ensure that this knowledge is consistently available to all teams.
Continuous Improvement: You will oversee Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), embedding a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
Candidate Profile:
- BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience in managing an engineering team.
- Familiarity with machinery compliance standards (ATEX, EMC, LVD, CE).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and persuade effectively.
- Creative and practical problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring compliance of all components and assemblies.
- Overseeing product ownership.
- Managing spares and contract order fulfillment.
- Utilizing AutoCAD and The Vault for design processes.
- Maintaining quality standards for designs and drawings.
- Driving departmental improvement initiatives.
- Managing product costs through lean design principles.
- Developing and coaching engineering staff.
- Enhancing departmental processes.
