About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at Darent Valley Hospital. As a key member of our Accident and Emergency Department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of medical professionals, and contributing to the development of our emergency services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and urgent conditions.
  • Lead a team of medical professionals, including junior doctors, nurses, and other support staff, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of our emergency services, including the design and implementation of new clinical pathways and protocols.
  • Participate in teaching and training of junior doctors and other medical professionals.
  • Engage in clinical audit and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant who possesses the following qualities:

  • Recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • On the Specialist Register, or confirmed expectation within 6 months of appointment.
  • Postgraduate diploma: FRCEM or recognised equivalent.
  • Postgraduate diploma: MRCEM, MRCP (UK or Ireland), MRCS/FRCS or equivalent.
  • Advanced competency in prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and urgent conditions.
  • Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates.
  • Experience of clinical audit.
