Unqualified Teacher Opportunity

We are partnering with the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust in Derby to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Unqualified Teachers (Cover Supervisors) to provide vital classroom support across their secondary schools.

The Role

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will be stepping into the classroom when regular teachers are absent. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising students in the classroom, ensuring they remain focused on pre-prepared lessons.
  • Providing support to students with any questions or guidance they may need to complete their work.
  • Maintaining a positive learning environment by promoting good behaviour and order.
  • Working flexibly across different subject areas and year groups as needed.
  • Ensuring classroom safety and organisation, and managing the distribution of materials.
  • Passing completed work on to the regular teacher for review.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for helping students succeed.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Confidence working with a variety of students, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • An undergraduate degree (desired but not essential).
  • A current DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
