Job Description

Job Title: Lead Process Engineer - PVC/CPVC Expert

Job Summary:

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our process engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of process engineering deliverables for our petrochemical facilities projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and oversee the design and development of process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams, utility flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate with engineering contractors to ensure that design deliverables meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Participate in complex technical discussions with owners, engineering contractors, licensors, and suppliers to validate technical decisions.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and defects in the design deliverables.
  • Review and oversee the overall plant and unit simulations and/or heat and mass balance studies.
  • Review and oversee the process flow diagrams, utility flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Participate in major reviews such as PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and 3D model reviews.
  • Represent the process engineering discipline and assess and challenge engineering contractor's process design on behalf of the owner.
  • Review and oversee relief load narratives, relief load calculations, load summaries, and relief valve datasheets.
  • Review and oversee complex technical studies and resolution of technical issues on project.

Requirements:

  • A recognized bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience of process engineering in EPC and/or operating industry, with considerable experience in process engineering leadership role and PVC/CPVC experience in design and/or operation.
  • Excellent understanding of chemical engineering principles of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer, and thermodynamics, and their general application to process design.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices, and how to apply them for design execution.
  • Extensive experience with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
  • Extensive experience in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design.
  • Knowledgeable in process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers, and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
  • Experience with process configuration and optimization studies to increase product yield, reduce utility consumption (steam, power, cooling water), and reduce/mitigate flare loads.
