Position Overview

We are looking for two dedicated Otolaryngology Consultants to enhance our current ENT team within the Trust. The role involves working across multiple sites, with a primary focus on providing exceptional patient care.

Candidates must possess full registration with the GMC and hold a valid licence to practice.

All applicants are required to submit documentation demonstrating their competencies specific to ENT, including a Logbook.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will participate in the consultant rota, bringing a comprehensive background in general ENT. Any specific sub-specialty interests will be actively encouraged and supported. The on-call rota will be structured as 1:5 for weekends and 1:4 for weekdays, with prospective cover arrangements. Responsibilities include managing theatre schedules, conducting independent outpatient clinics, and collaborating with the clinical lead to define the scope of work.

This role will involve independent theatre operations (with support from SAS or CT1/2), managing outpatient clinics autonomously, and providing on-call services to ensure high-quality patient care, along with dedicated time for professional development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of specialist training in ENT or an equivalent qualification.
  • Fulfillment of the criteria outlined in the Specialist grade generic capabilities framework for both general and ENT-specific competencies.

Desirable

  • FRCS in otolaryngology.

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 12 years of medical practice since obtaining a primary medical qualification, with at least six years in a relevant specialty.
  • Equivalent experience in the specialty from other medical roles will also be considered.
  • Specific competencies related to ENT.

Desirable

  • Development of a specialized area of interest.
  • Previous experience within the NHS.
