Electronics Engineer Industrial Placement

Join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Chilbolton Observatory, as an Electronics Engineer on an industrial placement. This exciting opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience in radio frequency engineering and communications engineering.

About the Role

As an Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems. You will also support the technical development of radars and provide technical support for other projects operating at the Observatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems
  • Support technical development of radars
  • Provide technical support for other projects operating at the Observatory
Requirements

To be eligible for this placement, you must be currently enrolled on an electronics engineering undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement. You must also have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement and be able to commence employment in summer 2025.

Desirable Skills
  • RF design - radio links
  • Programmable digital logic design – FPGA
  • Experience with microcontrollers – PIC AVR etc
