Role Overview:

Our property litigation team has garnered recognition in the Legal 500 for its outstanding technical proficiency in delivering high-quality commercial services. We represent a diverse clientele, including businesses and individuals, in a wide array of contentious property matters, ranging from landlord-tenant disputes to real estate litigation and professional negligence cases involving property professionals.

In light of our team's recent growth and the expanding range of services we offer, we are seeking to appoint a junior solicitor with experience in property litigation to join our Kendal office. The successful applicant will manage their own caseload while also providing support to senior colleagues. We are looking for a candidate who possesses the ambition and drive to evolve their role within the team, both internally and externally. We are committed to providing the necessary support and resources to help them achieve their personal and professional aspirations as a property litigation solicitor.

Team Dynamics:

The Kendal team comprises a Partner, a Senior Associate, a trainee, and a Paralegal. Our clientele is varied, including independent business owners, retail tenants, large property developers, and individuals in both commercial and residential sectors. The work is diverse, challenging, and engaging, covering numerous landlord-tenant issues such as lease renewals, dilapidations, break clauses, and forfeiture. Recently, we have also seen an increase in cases related to trespass and possession, alongside ongoing work concerning boundary disputes, rights of way, and restrictive covenants.

Although based in Kendal, our team collaborates closely with colleagues in Preston and has the opportunity to work from other offices as needed to foster client and internal relationships. We provide training and development opportunities for junior solicitors to equip them with the skills necessary to enhance their commercial and technical expertise, thereby expanding their contributions to the team. We also actively encourage and support business development initiatives among all team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering exceptional client service
  • Building and maintaining client relationships
  • Managing smaller matters under supervision
  • Drafting correspondence and court documents
  • Communicating with the Court, instructing counsel and experts
  • Attending court hearings and meetings
  • Providing support to team members as needed and demonstrating effective management and supervision of junior staff
  • Enhancing knowledge and expertise in relevant areas
  • Delivering high-quality legal advice
  • Collaborating with team members and other departments at Harrison Drury
  • Promoting the values of Harrison Drury internally and externally

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 0-4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Ability to manage a personal caseload with appropriate oversight
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Strong client-facing skills
  • Willingness to engage in business development and contribute to the growth of the property litigation practice at Harrison Drury
  • Experience in handling a diverse range of property litigation cases, including real property, landlord-tenant disputes, and contractual issues
