Job Summary:

This full-time position is ideal for psychology graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in education and student support. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them overcome learning challenges and achieve academic success.
  • Support the delivery of tailored intervention programs for students with special educational needs (SEN) or those requiring additional emotional or behavioural support.
  • Assist classroom teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management, particularly in subjects related to psychology, social sciences, or pastoral care.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional well-being by supporting students in managing social and emotional challenges.
  • Assist with the development of resources for differentiated learning to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing valuable feedback to teachers to adapt lesson plans and support strategies.
  • Work closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and pastoral team to ensure all students receive the appropriate support for their educational and emotional needs.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities aimed at supporting mental health and well-being, such as mindfulness or emotional literacy workshops.
  • Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported.
  • Support students in their preparation for exams and assessments, helping them develop effective study habits and stress management techniques.
Requirements:
  • A recent graduate with a degree in psychology or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in education and a desire to support students with their learning and emotional well-being.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic attitude, with the ability to work effectively in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A desire to pursue a career in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
