Job Summary:This full-time position is ideal for psychology graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in education and student support. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them overcome learning challenges and achieve academic success.
- Support the delivery of tailored intervention programs for students with special educational needs (SEN) or those requiring additional emotional or behavioural support.
- Assist classroom teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management, particularly in subjects related to psychology, social sciences, or pastoral care.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional well-being by supporting students in managing social and emotional challenges.
- Assist with the development of resources for differentiated learning to meet the individual needs of students.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing valuable feedback to teachers to adapt lesson plans and support strategies.
- Work closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and pastoral team to ensure all students receive the appropriate support for their educational and emotional needs.
- Contribute to extra-curricular activities aimed at supporting mental health and well-being, such as mindfulness or emotional literacy workshops.
- Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported.
- Support students in their preparation for exams and assessments, helping them develop effective study habits and stress management techniques.
- A recent graduate with a degree in psychology or a related discipline.
- A genuine interest in education and a desire to support students with their learning and emotional well-being.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A proactive, patient, and empathetic attitude, with the ability to work effectively in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable but not essential.
- A desire to pursue a career in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
- Full-time position in a supportive and inclusive secondary school.
- Weekly pay between £419.25 and £500, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Direct experience working with students, including those with special educational needs and emotional challenges.
