As a Senior Contract Officer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining a network of school transport routes, tendering and managing contracts, and liaising with parents, schools, and transport providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Route Management: Organize and maintain a network of school transport routes into Mainstream Schools within a given geographical area of Somerset. This will involve close liaison with transport providers, Schools, Children's Services, Parents, and Carers.
  2. Contract Management: Design a complex and constantly changing network of routes as safely and economically as possible, utilizing a variety of vehicles operated by a diverse range of contractors.
  3. Operations Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the network, including inspections on school sites, and providing support for drivers and passenger assistants.
  4. Financial Management: Ensure correct allocation of budget codes and authorise contractor invoices up to agreed limits.
  5. Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date data on journeys through software packages.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will also need to have a strong understanding of transport operations and contract management.

Location: Somerset, Taunton

Hourly Rate: Negotiable depending on experience.
