We are seeking an Audience Insights Analyst to become a vital part of STV's Consumer Insights division in Glasgow. If you possess a natural curiosity, strong analytical skills, and a desire to explore how Scottish audiences engage with media, this role may be an excellent fit for you.

STV stands as Scotland's premier source for news, entertainment, and drama, delivering high-quality content across various platforms, including broadcast, online, and on-demand services. Our broadcast channel attracts 3 million viewers monthly, while STV Player is integrated into a significant portion of the UK's connected TV households. STV Studios, a multi-genre production entity, is recognized as one of the UK's leading content creators, boasting a successful history across numerous broadcasters.
Located in STV's Pacific Quay office in Glasgow, the Consumer Insights team is dedicated to providing audience analytics for multiple departments within the organization, such as Commercial, News, Marketing, STV Player, PR, and STV Studios. In addition to analyzing television viewing patterns, the team collaborates closely with ScotPulse, Scotland's largest consumer panel, to develop online surveys that yield deeper insights into consumer perceptions.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Director of Broadcast Services and Insight, the Audience Insights Analyst will deliver valuable insights regarding STV's audience and broader television viewing trends. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing television viewing statistics utilizing Barb data to understand viewing habits, platform usage, and demographic variations.
- Staying informed about emerging viewing trends and the evolving television landscape.
- Ensuring timely delivery of monthly reports that meet high-quality standards.
- Supporting the commercial team by providing essential information for TV advertising campaign strategies.
- Collaborating with STV Player teams to gain insights into viewer content consumption across both broadcast and digital platforms.
- Providing viewing statistics and performance metrics for various STV Studios productions.
- Working alongside ScotPulse to design online surveys, analyze the results, and present findings effectively.
- Addressing ad-hoc inquiries from internal stakeholders regarding audience metrics for specific programs or advertising initiatives.
- Assisting with other company-related tasks as reasonably required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in a research-oriented role, with familiarity in market and audience research methodologies preferred.
- Strong analytical and numerical capabilities, with experience in data interpretation, trend identification, and calculations.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and high-quality completion of tasks.
- Proactive in acquiring new skills and generating innovative ideas and solutions.
- Commercially aware, with a passion for media, research, and advertising.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to stakeholders.
- Strong presentation abilities, with experience in creating and delivering engaging presentations to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in PC applications, particularly Excel (data sorting, formatting, and formulas), PowerPoint, and Office 365 tools.
- Experience in survey creation and analysis is advantageous.
