Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Drainage Engineer to lead the development and implementation of drainage and off-track renewal, refurbishment, and enhancement work. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing risk associated with our ever-changing climate, ensuring assets are resilient and reliable for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the drainage and off-track renewal work bank to deliver Network Rail's goals.
  • Lead the specification and acceptance of renewal requirements criteria for drainage and off-track engineering works, including design approval and acceptance of equipment into maintenance.
  • Support the development and implementation of projects to confirm renewals requirements are correctly interpreted, and agreed deliverables in the asset management plan are delivered.
  • Lead the provision of drainage and off-track engineering input to enhancement projects, ensuring they are specified and accepted in accordance with company asset policies and standards.
  • Check that accurate and comprehensive records relating to drainage and off-track engineering assets are maintained and accurately reflect their current 'as built' status.
  • Lead and participate in engineering verification activities in support of the verification programme.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of route asset management plans.
  • Carry out asset condition inspections to inform the drainage and off-track asset condition database and the renewals work bank.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
  • Membership of relevant professional institution.
  • Substantial drainage and off-track engineering experience, particularly related to renewals and enhancements.
  • Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales.
  • An understanding of policy and technical, safety, and performance standards relating to signal engineering.
  • Holds a valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain.
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of investment processes and procedures, including relevant computer systems.
  • Experience in the integration of complex engineering systems.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques.
