Ideally, you will possess experience in various areas of radiography, including plain film, theatre, fluoroscopy, and CT imaging. You will rotate through the primary x-ray department and CT scanner, ensuring exceptional patient care and imaging quality. Comprehensive training will be provided.

This position may also be available as a 6 to 12-month link grade.

Individuals who meet the interview criteria but may lack sufficient experience will receive on-site training and a structured induction program with defined competencies to complete over 6 to 12 months.

Band 6 designation will be granted upon successful completion of all requirements.

Main Responsibilities

You will assist in delivering a 24-hour service across all facets of plain film, fluoroscopy, and CT imaging. Availability for night shifts and weekends, in addition to daytime hours, is essential.

As a Specialist Radiographer, you will oversee the planning and distribution of tasks within your designated area of the department, ensuring timely and effective service delivery.

Your role will include monitoring and upholding professional practice standards, supervising junior staff and radiography students, and ensuring that quality standards are consistently met. You will provide leadership and guidance to the team, serving as a role model and advocate for patients. You will assess, plan, and make informed decisions regarding necessary imaging examinations while maintaining accurate records.

The department is equipped with three digital general rooms, along with fluoroscopy, interventional, and CT scanning facilities. We also offer a comprehensive range of ultrasound, MR, and symptomatic breast services within the hospital premises. Our department promotes career growth through various advanced practice roles, including plain film reporting and fluoroscopy.

Qualifications and Education

Essential Criteria

  • BSc/DCR in Radiography.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of current and relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a broad range of general radiographic procedures and CT imaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Involvement in Quality Assurance (QA) processes.
  • Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Commitment to expanding clinical competencies.
  • Willingness to reflect on and learn from past practices.
  • Awareness of advancements in imaging practices.
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and its relevance to practice.
  • Experience with audit processes.
  • Knowledge of pertinent policies and procedures.

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to perform IV cannulation with documented competency.
