About the Role

The Site Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment through all stages of the production process, including start-up and shut-down. As the only Engineer on site, you'll be part of the site Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in maximizing plant availability, driving efficiencies, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage external contractors, ensuring sign-off of completed works against an agreed standard, compliance with all applicable internal systems, review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Issue Permit to Work.
  • Provide information regarding fault finding, share any knowledge with Site Manager and Production Supervisors as applicable.
  • Ensure all new installations or modifications to existing machinery are commissioned and risk-assessed before use.
  • Manage tasks to ensure the site complies with all UK engineering compliance requirements as well as internal system requirements (LOLER, PUWER, Legionella, Electricity at Work, Pressure System Regs, Permit to Work, Hot Work, etc.).
  • Ensure engineering stores are maintained, ordered, and tidy.
  • Actively promote safety awareness and cost and quality awareness.
  • Time-served multi-skilled engineer (with an electrical bias) or an engineering qualification such as OND, ONC, or BTECH.
  • Several years of experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally gained within a manufacturing environment. Ideally food, chemical, or pharmaceutical.
  • A wide breadth of engineering knowledge.
  • Fault finding skills, including the ability to interrogate PLCs.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience of managing small projects and external contractors.
